SPEED IN PAENGAROA:    LETTER SENT OUT AUGUST 2019.   
 
Consultation has opened for the State Highway 33 and State Highway 30 speed review. The NZ Transport Agency is proposing new permanent speed limits for SH33 Paengaroa, and SH33 Okere Falls to SH30 Rotokawa Road. Consultation documentation, online submission form and more information is available at: www.nzta.govt.nz/BOP-speed-reviews
 
The consultation period runs until 16 September 2019.

Some members have put together a suggested plan for our dangerous intersection .  This has been sent to NZTA and WBOPDC for comment.   To date I don't think they have replied.   this pdf shows the plan and the letter sent to nzta.

​Recent achievements:  Our Association made submissions to NZTA and the Western BOP District Council regarding safety concerns on SH33 and have achieved some success with a recent upgrade to the 70 km area within Paengaroa village. A safer crossing point with speed restricting islands has been constructed. We also worked with WBOPDC staff to develop a concept plan to improve parking on the Paengaroa Domain.
​Latest news on roading:  NZTA road safety  are planning a meeting at the Paengaroa Hall in February 2017​
  • 16 February, 3 -7 pm at the Paengaroa Community Hall
 to get our views on making the whole of State Highway 33 safer for everyone, right from the intersection at Paengaroa to Rotorua. Please formulate your views and experiences in the past, so that these can be incorporated into the future plans, and come to the meeting.
