Where - Otanewainuku Shelter - Mountain road - Oropi.

The pool is open for community members who wish to use the facility out of school hours, however, those wishing to use it have to purchase a swipe card.Swipe cards are available from the school’s office for an one off payment / Bond of $30.00 per hirer ($15 returned on return of card) plus the Family Swipe Card for $100.00 per swim season}

Rotoehu Ecological Trust: Kōkako Ecosanctuary is the ‘social media’, public facing arm of RET, where we can attract a wide and diverse national audience, educate people about kōkako and find new funding opportunities. Every Kiwi should know what a kōkako is! In 2023 there are 471 birds under management
Our nearest virgin bush in Pongakawa, Rotoehu Road. Regular monthly get togethers to save the Kokako from extinction. Please note that all workdays run from 9:00am to 1:00pm, unless otherwise advertised, and we generally meet at the intersection of Pukehangi and Rotoehu Roads. All volunteers need to bring water bottles, weather appropriate clothing (e.g. raincoat, thermals, sunhats, sunblock etc), and sturdy footwear with ankle support if possible. Volunteers may also get asked to bring other workday appropriate gear (backpacks, loppers, secateurs etc).
RET will always make sure that we have an abundance of Kokako Organic Coffee, tea, water and snacks available for volunteers.

Gig Green spoke at our meeting 18th September 2018. A new co-ordinator for the whole of the Western Bay is Kathy Webb. Kathy was working for WBOPDC and helped us with compiling our Community Plan. It was discussed that the facebook page created by Hayley being Paengaroa Community Notices is a good way to get attention if you need assistance, and spread warnings of crimes being committed. |
PAENGAROA COMMUNITY GARDEN: Anyone interested in coming to work in the garden, and learn about gardening, talk gardening, please come along any Sunday at 10am.
If you're a facebook fan, just search for "Paengaroa Community Garden" and see their facebook page to keep up to date with what's happening in the community garden.The picture is from their facebook page: strawberries, potatoes, brocolli, silverbeet and more. Te Puke Pony Club.:
Pony Club winds down in May, but restarts again in August of each year. This year there may be a "have a go day" at Sheryl's in the July holidays. Watch this space. If you'd like to join Pony Club contact Jo 0211393492 or Sheryl 0276725777 Te Puke Pony Club seeks sponsorship each year to run a Show Jumping Festival on Nov 1-2, and Show-Jumping and Cross Country in December. This brings riders of all ages from across the region to Te Puke Pony Club, Showgrounds Road, Te Puke. If you can assist in person, or help with any extra funds, big or small please contact Jo. or Sheryl . Sheryl Barr is District Commissioner of Te Puke branch.
